Love, Peace, and Hope: Celebrating 35 Years of Service to New Orleans’ Elders
New Orleans, LA (April 13, 2009) – In Recognition of Older Americans Month, the New Orleans Council on Aging, City of New Orleans, and New Orleans Elder Action Coalition will host Senior Fest on May 8, 2009, 9:00A to 2:00P at the New Orleans Recreation Department St. Bernard Center located at 1500 Lafreniere Street in New Orleans. Senior Fest is a mega-event for New Orleans area older adults. This fun-filled event provides seniors with useful information, answers to questions, a chance to interact with city officials and departments, entertainment, lunch, prizes, and a great time!

This year’s theme is “Love, Peace, and Hope” and this year is extra special as the New Orleans Council on Aging is commemorating a milestone – 35 Years. This year’s celebration of older adults will feature a 70’s party that includes physical activity and showcases by individuals and groups associated with Senior Centers in New Orleans. Scheduled to perform the tunes of that decade are Arthur Johnson & a Chosen Few.

Please contact your local senior center if you are interested in attending. There will only be advanced sale tickets at this year’s event and tickets are required for entry. For sponsorship opportunities contact Coretta LaGarde at (504) 821-4121 or via email at cgrant@nocoa.org if you are interested in exhibiting your product or services. Donations are always welcomed.
