Milling Honored for Coastal Restoration Work

R. King Milling, champion of the Louisiana Speaks planning effort, has received the 2008 New Orleans Times-Picayune Loving Cup award. Milling received the honor for his work in support of coastal restoration, as well as decades of work for a long list of organizations. The Loving Cup has been awarded since 1901 to "men and women who have worked unselfishly for the community without expectation of public recognition or material reward." Milling currently serves as chairman of the Governor's Advisory Commission on Coastal Restoration and Conservation, America's Wetland Foundation and the Committee on the Future of Coastal Louisiana. For more about Milling's Loving Cup honor, read the story on the Times-Picayune's Web site.

Louisiana Speaks is a long-term planning initiative of the Louisiana Recovery Authority (LRA) that is supported with private funds provided through the LRA Support Foundation. In the wake of the destruction caused by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the Louisiana Speaks initiative works toward the development of a sustainable, long-term vision for South Louisiana. This work combines the efforts of local, state and federal partners along with many experts, stakeholders and citizens into a comprehensive approach that will guide recovery and growth over the next 50 years
