LOCAL TEENS TO “KEEP LOUISIANA BEAUTIFULWITH NEW GRANT AWARD

Gretna, LA – Keep Louisiana Beautiful has awarded YOUTHanasia Foundation Inc. a $15,000 grant to launch a youth led litter abatement effort from its headquarters, The Teen Center for Non-Violence. Teen members of YOUTHanasia Foundation have created “Helping Hands on Hancock” in honor of the street in Gretna, Louisiana where the teen center is located. “Helping Hands on Hancock” is the service learning project for members of The Saturday Leadership and Empowerment Institute at the teen center. YOUTHanasia Foundation will use the project to educate youth, volunteers and Hancock Street residents about the importance of litter abatement and various environment issues while actively keeping Hancock Street free of debris and trash. YOUTHanasia Foundation Inc. is a nonprofit youth services organization founded in 1997 to train and actively engage teen activists in the eradication of teen violence through comprehensive prevention and intervention programs, mentoring, and service learning education. Keep Louisiana Beautiful, Inc., a nonprofit organization, was formed to assist the state in its litter reduction efforts. Its mission is to "promote personal, corporate and community responsibility for a clean and beautiful Louisiana.
