THIS IS A SOUTHSHORE EVENT

TITLE: Social Media for Nonprofits and Foundations

SPEAKER: Alison Byrne Fields is the SVP for Issues & Advocacy and the Senior Social Media Strategy Director for DDB. In this position, Alison combines more than a decade of experience in strategic communications for nonprofit organizations, foundations and political campaigns with her expertise in online word of mouth. Current clients include the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the David & Lucile Packard Foundation, the National Breast Cancer Coalition and Equality California. Prior to joining DDB, Alison was Vice President and Senior Strategist for Ogilvy Public Relations’ 360 Degree Digital Influence group, where she was responsible for launching the first-ever Cabinet member blog for HHS Secretary Michael Leavitt. In the 2000 and 2004 elections, Alison worked to increase youth voter participation as the Creative Director and Chief Strategist for Rock the Vote in 2000 and as an advisor to Generation Dean, Howard Dean’s youth outreach initiative in 2004. Alison received her Master of Public Policy degree from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

DESCRIPTION: On March 12, 2009 Alison Byrne Fields will share her point of view about why the relationship between consumers and brands has changed and why social media is an integral element of any marketing campaign and not just a trend that will go away. Specific focus will be on how nonprofit organizations and foundations can use social media to build relationships with supporters, to attract new supporters and to mobilize supporters to help them achieve their missions. Alison will provide attendees with a list of “next steps” for how to ease client’s anxieties about engaging in social media and how to take the first, strategic steps toward generating positive outcomes. Whether you are an early adopter or a newbie to the world of social media, the talk will be of value to you.

Please join New Orleans AMA on March 12, 2009 as Alison Byrne Fields addresses social media for nonprofits and foundations.
